Gardai seize over 100 catalytic converters and large sum of cash in Meath

Over 100 catalytic converters and a large sum of cash was seized by gardai in Co Meath this morning.

The discovery came after officers searched business premises under warrant at around 10 am this morning.

They uncovered 110 catalytic converters, €27,000 and £55,000 (€62,656.07) in cash as well as a number of documents.

The search was conducted as a part of an ongoing investigation into catalytic converter theft throughout the Dublin Metropolitan Region and surrounding areas.

Officers attached to the DMR North Divisional Crime were assisted by personnel from the Stolen Motor Vehicle Investigation Unit, Santry DDU and local gardai.

A garda spokeswoman said: "All items seized are subject to a technical examination.

"Investigations are ongoing."
