Gardai today seized a huge haul of cocaine worth €3.5m and arrested a 33-year-old man in County Dublin.
Officers from the Garda National Drugs and Organised Crime Bureau (GNDOCB) swooped on a premises in Swords as part of an operation targeting organised crime.
They discovered a large amount of suspected cocaine (subject to analysis), with an estimated street sale value of €3.5 million.
A 33-year-old man was arrested and is currently being held under Section 2 of The Criminal Justice (Drug Trafficking) Act 1996, at Swords Garda Station.
Speaking today, Assistant Commissioner John O’Driscoll who heads Organised and Serious Crime said, "Participation by a number of sections within An Garda Síochána with assistance provided by Customs Revenue Service in this operation, has resulted in another significant seizure of a substance believed to be cocaine, which prevents further damage being inflicted within our communities”.
