Gardai seize handguns and over 100 rounds of ammunition during seizure in Clondalkin, Dublin

Gardai seized guns and other paraphernalia as part of a massive haul of illegal items in Dublin.

Two handguns, three silencers and 105 rounds of 9mm ammunition were seized during an intelligence-led operation in Clondalkin, Dublin on Thursday evening.

The search operation was carried out by gardai from Ronanstown Garda station, with the assistance of the Ronanstown Detective unit.

It came after intelligence was received relating to an ongoing investigation into the sale and supply of drugs in Clondalkin.

A home was searched in a housing estate and during that search, a small amount of cannabis herb was seized along with the guns and ammunition.

Gardai also seized 105 rounds of ammunition. (An Garda Siochana)

Gardai said all the firearms have been sent to the Ballistics Unit for analysis.

No one was arrested during the search and gardai say their investigations are ongoing.

A garda spokesperson said: "Gardaí have seized two handguns, three silencers and 105 rounds of 9mm ammunition during an intelligence led operation in Clondalkin, Dublin 22 yesterday evening, Thursday 9th September, 2021.

"The search operation was conducted by Gardaí from Ronanstown Garda station, with the assistance of the Ronanstown Detective unit, following intelligence received relating to an ongoing investigation into the sale and supply of drugs in Clondalkin.

"A domestic premises was searched in a residential estate. During the course of the search a small amount of cannabis herb was seized along with two handguns, three silencers and 105 rounds of 9mm ammunition.

"All firearms have been sent to the Ballistics Unit for analysis.

"No persons were arrested during the search and investigations ongoing."
