Two men have been arrested by Gardai after a car was abandoned near the M50 and a firearm was recovered in Dublin.
Officers in Finglas were in the middle of an operation in Finglas on Wednesday at around midday when the incident occurred.
They spotted that a vehicle had been abandoned on the N2 underpass at the M50 junction, heading towards the city centre.
A short distance away, the duo (aged 33 and 20 respectively) were arrested.
A firearm was recovered during the incident.
Both men were arrested at the scene and have since been taken to Finglas Garda station where they are currently detained.
A Garda spokesperson said: "Gardaí are appealing to anyone who may have witnessed this car, a black Volkswagen Golf that was abandoned on the underpass on the N2 to come forward. Any road users who were travelling along the N2 towards city centre between 11.45am this morning and 12.15pm this afternoon Wednesday 13th October, 2021 and who may have camera footage (including dash cam) is asked to make it available to Gardaí.
"Anyone with any information is asked to contact the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111, or any Garda station."
