Gardai seize cocaine worth €35K, €33k cash, firearm and ammunition in Kilkenny and Waterford

Gardai seized a huge haul of drugs, cash, ammunition and a firearm in a major sting on Wednesday.

Cocaine worth €35,000, €33,000 in cash, a firearm and over 40 rounds of ammunition were seized in two counties.

The bust was made by detectives from the Kilkenny/Carlow and Waterford Divisions assisted by the Emergency Response Unit (ERU) as part of a crackdown on organised crime in these areas.

As part of an operation, a car was stopped and searched in the Slieverue area of Kilkenny.

Officers discovered a firearm and over 40 rounds of ammunition.

Three men who were in the car, one aged in his 30s and two aged in their 20s were arrested at the scene.

They are being held at Thomastown and Waterford Garda stations under Section 30 of the Offences Against the State Act 1939.

A garda spokesperson said: "Follow up searches carried out a house in Waterford city lead to the discovery and seizure of €33,000 in cash.

"An additional search was carried out at a house in south Kilkenny where cocaine (pending analysis) worth €35,000 was seized.

"Investigations are continuing."
