Gardai seize car after it's found parked in a disabled bay with a false tax disc

Gardai in west Dublin have taken to social media to publicly shame a driver who produced a double whammy of offences yesterday.

The chancer motorist had not only parked in a disabled parking spot, but upon further inspection, was displaying a false tax disc to try and deceive inspectors.

To match the driver's offences, officers delivered a double whammy of punishment.

Not only did they receive fixed penalty charge notices, the vehicle was also seized from them.

It comes as news that over 200 motorists have been fined for parking in disabled bays by Dublin City Council so far this year.

Between 1 January and 31 June of this year, 213 motorists have been issued the fixed fine of €150 for parking in these spaces.

The number is on course to eclipse last year's total, as there were 335 fines issued between 1 January and 31 December 2018.
