Gardai seize 32 dogs worth over €120,000 after 'unusual activity' call in Swords, Dublin

Gardai seized 32 dogs thought to be worth over €120,000 in total after searches yesterday afternoon.

Officers had received call over "unusual activity" in the area of Stockhole, Cloghran, Swords, Co Dublin and after enquiring further, gardai sought a Section 48 search warrant.

This was executed by Swords and Malahide gardai on Saturday at around 1pm, assisted by two dog wardens.

A total of 32 dogs were seized from a property, including three Chihuahuas, four Pugs, a Jack Russell and 24 Dachshunds.

The dog wardens confirmed that the estimated monetary value of all the dogs would be in excess of €120,000.

Gardai said all the dogs were removed to Ashtown Pound, where they are currently being cared for and the owners of the dogs are due to be verified via their microchips, where further enquiries will be carried out.
