Gardai seize 12 vehicles for same offence in same location

Gardai seized a dozen vehicles for the same offence in the same location earlier this week, it has emerged.

The 12 cars were taken for insurance and tax offences, while one person was arrested for driving under the influence of drugs.

The seizures came after traffic police set up a checkpoint in Balbriggan, Dublin.

Taking to Twitter, gardai confirmed fixed charge penalty notices have been issued and court proceedings have commenced.

A picture of the drug testing machine also showed the motorist testes positive for cannabis on the roadside.

Police tweeted: "Dublin Castle seized 12 vehicles for insurance and tax matters and arrested one motorist for driving under the influence of drugs in the course of traffic enforcement operations in Balbriggan, Dublin this week.

"FCPNs have issued & court proceedings commenced."
