Gardai are seeking information on a navy Toyota car following the discovery of a man's body in a burning car.
The body of the victim, who hasn't been identified yet, has now been removed from the scene in Lucan, west Dublin.
A postmortem is due to be carried by State Pathologist Dr Heidi Okkers in Whitehall.
The man's body was found amongst the blaze at Mount Andrew Court at around 8pm on Monday.
Investigators are appealing for information on a Corolla vehicle with a registration of 05-CW-2225.
This vehicle was sold last Wednesday and gardai are keen on knowing its movements from then until now.
A statement said: "The body has been removed to the Office of the State Pathologist, Whitehall, Dublin, where a post mortem will be carried out by Locum State Pathologist Dr. Heidi Okkers.
"Gardaí are appealing to the public for any information in relation to a Navy Toyota Corolla 05-CW-2225. This vehicle was sold on 13/11/2019 and Gardaí are seeking information in relation to the movements of this vehicle from 13/11/19 to date.
"Gardaí are also appealing for anyone who may have information, including any road users who travelled in the area on the night of 18/11/2019 who may have dash cam footage available, to contact Gardaí in Lucan Garda Station on 01 666 7300 or the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111."
The postmortem is due to determine the course of the murder investigation. Gardai believe the victim was shot.
Local councillor Anne-Marie McNally told Dublin Live: "People are shocked and terrified. It's a very quiet estate, and everyone's very shaken.
"It's still early in the investigation so we don't really know or completely understand what's going on.
"Mount Andrew is your typical quiet estate, full of nice families.
"The area is a popular cut-through route from the bus stop off the N4. A lot of people would go through it.
"There's been some extremely horrible incidents in Lucan lately, and it's come up when speaking to people while canvassing."
Fellow councillor Andrew Moynihan said he is "horrified" at this "unacceptable" crime.
He said: "Horrified to hear of a violent shooting in Mount Andrew tonight. This estate is home to many young families.
"Particularly violent crime like this is unacceptable, and we will not tolerate it in our community. Thinking of the victim and all those affected."
