Gardai seal off Sean McDermott Street in Dublin after man stabbed in broad daylight

A young man has been rushed to hospital following a stabbing in Dublin city centre.

The assault occurred at around 1.30pm on Friday with officers from Store Street Garda Station and emergency services quickly attending the scene.

The young man, who is in his 20's, was taken to The Mater Misericordiae University Hospital for treatment.

According to gardai, his injuries are understood to be non-life-threatening.

No arrests have yet been made and investigations are ongoing.

A spokesperson for An Garda Siochana told Dublin Live: "Gardaí attached to Store Street Garda Station and emergency services attended an assault that occurred on Sean McDermott Street Lower, Dublin 1 at approximately 1.30pm today, Friday, the 13 August 2021.

"One man aged in his 20s was conveyed to The Mater Misericordiae University Hospital for treatment of injuries sustained in the course of this incident. His injuries are considered to be non-life threatening at this time.

"No arrests have yet been made in relation to this incident and investigations are ongoing."
