A part of Dublin city was sealed off for several hours last night after one man was seriously injured in an assault.
Gardai rushed to the scene near O'Donovan Rossa Bridge just before 10pm last night where they discovered the injured man in his 30s.
He was immediately taken to the Mater Hospital where he is still recovering from his injuries.
A huge search operation was launched to find the attacker but the thug still remains at large as Garda launch an investigation into the incident.
One eye witness told Dublin Live that they were going for a walk in the area when things spiralled out of control.
They said: "I was walking near Ormond Quay and next thing I could just see the Armed Garda unit circling the area and officers running around.
"Gardai were searching nearby streets with torches too and the Fire Brigade were on the scene."
They added: "There was blood on the ground, it was very scary."
A Garda spokesman confirmed the incident to Dublin Live.
He said: "Gardaí responded to reports of an assault near the O’Donovan Rossa Bridge in Dublin yesterday evening, 25 November at approximately 9.55pm.
"A man (30s) received injuries following the incident and was taken to the Mater Misericordiae Hospital for treatment."
He added: "No arrests have been made and investigations into the incident are ongoing."
