Gardai seal off area in Drogheda in search for remains of Keane Mulready-Woods

Gardai have sealed off an area near Drogheda in connection with the brutal murder of teenager Keane Mulready-Woods.

The 17-year-old was stabbed and dismembered in the killing that shocked the nation just over two weeks ago.

It is understood Keane was abducted in the Ballsgrove area of Drogheda, Co Louth and taken to a house in Rathmullen Park where he was tortured, killed and cut apart.

The Narcos-style killers dumped his arms and legs in a holdall bag near a rival gangster’s home in Coolock, North Dublin on Monday night, January 13.

His head and hands were discovered in a burning car in Drumcondra two days later.

His torso has not yet been found. An area in Oldbridge, just a few minutes outside of Drogheda, has now been sealed off by investigators, however it is not yet known why.

A garda spokesman said: "Gardaí are carrying out searches in the Oldbridge area, Drogheda, Co Louth today 29 January 2020.

"The road was closed during the searches as safety precaution due to narrowness of same."

It comes just hours after gardai appealed for information about the teenager's death on RTE's Crimecall.

Superintendent Andrew Watters said: “The death of Keane Mulready-Woods was a very barbaric and inhumane act which involved his murder, the dismemberment of his body, and the disposal of parts of his body in Coolock and Ballybough area of Dublin.

“Keane was a 17-year-old child who grew up on the southside of Drogheda.

“We’re appealing for any information in relation to Keane’s movements and a number of scenes.

“I wish to strongly appeal to anyone with any information, particularly those directly involved in this incident, to seriously examine their conscience and come forward with any information they have to help us discover the remaining parts of Keane’s body.”
