Gardai rush to the scene as body of man, 30s, discovered after 'house fire' in Co Mayo

The body of a man in his mid-30s has been discovered at a house in Co Mayo.

Gardai and emergency services rushed to the scene at the property in Ballinrobe at around 2pm on Sunday.

They had received reports that a man's body had been found in the home.

It is understood the man died in a house fire.

Several units of the Mayo County Fire Brigade then brought the fire under control on Sunday evening, as the Western People reports.

Gardai say they are treating the man's death as a "personal tragedy".

A garda spokesperson told the Irish Mirror: "Shortly after 2pm on Sunday 7th November 2021, Gardaí were alerted to the discovery of a body of a man in his mid-30s in a house in Ballinrobe, Co Mayo.

"Gardaí are treating the incident as a personal tragedy. A file will be prepared for the Coroner."
