Gardai rush to scene of serious crash on M6 in Galway with multiple 'fatalities' reported

Gardai rushed to the scene of a serious multi vehicle crash in Galway last night.

The incident occurred on the M6 at junction 15 near Ballinasloe

Gardai said 'a number' of people have been killed in the serious crash, RTE News reports.

The crash occurred at around 7.40pm. Gardai urged people to avoid the area with diversions in place.

A spokesperson said: "Gardaí are currently at scene of a Serious RTC on the M6. Motorists are advised that the collision occurred at Junction 15 Ballinasloe on the westbound lane.

"Please use an alternative route as diversions are in place."
