Gardai have discovered two guns in a ditch on a quiet road in Co Cork.
The find was made on Wednesday on the Ballycollie Road at Whitescross.
Officers were alerted to the scene by a member of the public who said they had found two firearms.
Detective Gardai rushed to the area where they found a revolver and a semi-automatic pistol uncovered in a ditch.
The scene is currently being examined and an investigation is underway.
No arrests have yet been made.
A garda spokesman said: "The scene is currently preserved for a technical examination and a search of the area is being conducted by the Divisional Search Team and the Southern Region Dog Unit.
"Both of the suspected firearms will now be sent for analysis.
"No arrests have been made and the investigation is ongoing.
