Gardai rush to scene as man dies after being pulled from water at popular Irish beach

A man has died after being pulled from the water at a popular beach in Co Waterford.

The tragic incident happened at Tramore beach on Sunday evening.

Gardai and other emergency services rushed to the scene at around 5.30pm.

A man in his 60s was rescued from the water and brought to Waterford Regional Hospital.

However he was pronounced dead after arriving at the hospital.

A post mortem is expected to take place in the coming days and gardai investigations are still ongoing.

A garda spokesman said: "Gardaí and emergency services attended the scene of an incident at Tramore beach the evening of Sunday 25th July, 2021 at approximately 5.30pm.

"A male aged in his 60s was recovered from the water and taken to Waterford Regional Hospital where he was pronounced deceased.

"A post mortem will take place in due course.

"Investigations are ongoing."
