A teenager was arrested after a young man was seriously injured in a horror car crash in Co Westmeath.
The incident happened in the Lough Ennell area of Mullingar on Monday.
Gardai and emergency services rushed to the scene of the single-vehicle collision at around 10.30am.
One man who was in the car, who is in his 20s, was brought to Tallaght Hospital where he remains in a critical condition.
Nobody else was injured in the incident.

The driver of the car, a man in his late teens, was arrested by gardai at the scene.
He has since been released without charge as a file is prepared for the DPP.
A garda spokesman said: "Gardaí are investigating a single vehicle road traffic collision that occurred at approximately 10:30am on Monday, 19th July, 2021, in the Lough Ennell area of Mullingar, County Westmeath.
"An occupant of the vehicle involved, a man in his 20s, was taken to Tallaght Hospital where he is currently in a critical condition. No other injuries to persons was reported.
"The driver of the car, a man in his late teens, was arrested at the scene for road traffic offences. He has since been released without charge and a file will be prepared for the Director of Public Prosecutions.
"Investigations are ongoing."
