Gardai rush to scene after man, 60s, dies in road crash in Laois

Gardai are currently at the scene of a fatal road traffic collision involving two cars that occurred at approximately 1.45pm this afternoon.

The incident happened on , Co Laois.

The driver of one of the cars, a man in his 60s, was pronounced dead at the scene.

The body has since been moved to Portlaoise Mortuary where a post mortem will be conducted at a later date.

No other injuries to anyone else involved in the incident were reported.

The road is currently closed and Forensic Collision Investigators are examining the scene. Local diversions are in place.

Following the collision, Gardaí are appealing for any witnesses who may have information come forward.

Gardaí are also appealing to any road users who may have camera footage (including dash-cam) and were travelling in the area at this time to make this footage available to them.
