Gardai rush to scene after cars 'petrol bombed' in the middle of the night in south Dublin

Two cars have been discovered on fire after reportedly being "petrol bombed" in south Dublin.

Residents of Sandycove reported the incident in the early hours of the morning, with Gardai rushing to the scene shortly after 1am on Tuesday morning.

Dublin Fire Brigade were called to the scene and extinguished the fire.

Thankfully, Dublin Live report that no injuries were said to have happened during the incident.

In a local Facebook group a resident said the cars were "petrol bombed".

A garda spokesperson told Dublin Live: "Gardai attended the scene of an incident at a residence in Sandycove, Dublin this morning, Tuesday 14 December 2021 at approximately 1.30am.

"Two vehicles were discovered on fire. Dublin Fire Brigade attended the scene and extinguished the fire.

"The scene is currently preserved for a technical examination.

"Investigations are ongoing."
