Gardai reveal 291 new Dublin locations where speed vans and camera zones will be

Gardai have released the 291 locations in Dublin where new safety camera zones and speed vans will be put in place.

The safety cameras will operate in these new areas from Monday 17 February at 6am where there is a history of speed related collisions.

The zones will be policed using a fleet of marked vehicles with the cameras continuing to operate from speed vans as before.

The vans used will still be marked with high visibility, reflective material and display a safety camera symbol on the side.

All zones are available on the Garda website and available for GPS Navigation providers such as Garmin, TomTom, Google Maps or Waze to download.

Gardai say: "Since 2010, we have contributed to making our roads safer through the use of safety cameras, using a service provider ‘GoSafe’ to operate them on its behalf.

"The primary purpose of safety cameras is to reduce speed related collisions, lessen injuries and save lives."

They added: "An Garda Síochána appeals to all road users, in particular motorists, to familiarise themselves with these sections of the road network.

"We also appeal to motorists to always drive at an appropriate speed, to reduce the likelihood of being involved in a fatal or serious collision."

An interactive map with new and current zones has also been issued by Gardai which can be found using this link.

GoSafe provide a minimum of 7,400 enforcement hours and a maximum of 100 survey hours per month across the country.

The survey hours will be conducted from unmarked vans, in order to accurately observe and record the speeds at which vehicles are currently travelling, for survey purposes only.

All 291 new locations for Dublin and over 600 others around the country can be found on the Garda website here.
