A small female seal pup lost her way this week in Co. Galway and was seen trying to make her way across a main road before being rescued.
Gardaí came to the scene and aided volunteers in bringing the sea mammal to safety, and thankfully she was not injured.
It is understood that she washed up on Grattan Beach and went for a ramble before coming arriving at the roadside in Salthill.

Gardaí wrapped her in a blanket in the back of their van and took and an adorable snap of her before handing her over to a local vet.
In a post on Twitter they wrote: “Gardaí and volunteers came to the rescue of this beautiful orphaned female seal pup in Salthill, Co. Galway after she washed up on Grattan Beach and was trying to cross the main road.
“She was wrapped in a blanket by Gardaí and took a ride in our van to see the Vet.”
Later, they updated concerned citizens asking where she ended up, and said: “She is now being well looked after by @seal_rescue volunteers in Courtown Co. Wexford until she can be released back into the wild”.
People have been praising officers and volunteers for their efforts as one person wrote: “Thank you. Everyone involved in the tender care of this beautiful creature gets my approval and appreciation”.
Another wrote: “Great work reaching out going above and beyond keep it up”.
A third said: “Great job to the garda, great news”.
