Gardai have arrested a 20-year-old man following an incident involving a loaded gun over the weekend.
A gun was fired at a house at Brookfield Road in Tallaght, Dublin at around 10.30pm on Saturday.
No one was injured after the gun was discharged, but gardai then launched an investigation.
A search operation was carried out on Wednesday afternoon at two houses in Tallaght, which led to the discovery of a loaded gun.
The weapon was seized and a man was arrested at the scene under Section 30 of the Offences Against the State Act, 1939.
He is currently detained at Tallaght Garda Station and gardai say their investigations are continuing.
A garda spokesperson said: "Gardaí have seized a loaded firearm and arrested one man following a search operation that took place following a firearms incident that occurred on Saturday night, 30th October, 2021 at Brookfield Road, Tallaght.
"A firearm was discharged at a residential property in Tallaght at approximately 10.30 p.m.
"No persons were injured during the incident and as a result of investigations two search warrants were obtained pursuant to Section 29 of the Offences Against the State Act, 1939 to search two properties in Tallaght.
"The search operation took place this afternoon, Wednesday 3rd November, 2021 and during the course of the search a loaded shot gun was seized.
"One man (aged 20 years) was arrested at the scene under Section 30 Offences Against the State Act, 1939 and is currently detained at Tallaght Garda station.
"Investigations are ongoing."
