Gardai receive hate crime complaint after Kilkenny priest compared gay people to infected zombies

A hate crime complaint has been made to gardai after a priest compared gay people to infected zombies.

Patrick McKee said he has been told a Garda investigation into Brother Tom Forde will take place.

The 30-year-old from Kilkenny told the Irish Mirror: “The comments made by Brother Forde were hugely offensive and destructive and of a violent nature.

“They targeted members of the LGBT community and I think the comments warrant an investigation by the gardai. I made the complaint to Kilkenny Garda station on Thursday and I received a phone call to say it was their intention to open an investigation.

“I’ll be making a formal statement with gardai.”

Brother Forde received a backlash after he compared gay people, those who have sex before marriage and who are pro abortion and contraception to infected zombies.

He said the only way to cure these zombies was to shoot them in the brain.

Mr McKee, a former Fianna Fail and Renua politician, said: “Not only are the comments extremely violent in nature, as
a member of the LGBT community myself, I was really offended by them.”
