Gardai raid Kilkenny homes of people linked to suspects of horror sex attack in Courtown, Co Wexford

Gardai have raided the homes of people linked to the suspects in the horror triple sex attack at a seaside resort.

The raids took place in Co Kilkenny this morning and involved large numbers of gardai.

The three Dublin teenage girls were allegedly sexually assaulted, and at least one of them is suspected of being raped, by a group of five Irish teenage boys in Courtown, Co Wexford, on Sunday morning.

The girls, two of whom are 14 while one is 16, were holidaying when they were set upon by the attackers while socialising in the Burrow area of the town.

A source said: "Gardai had already gone to a number of addresses where these boys were living in Waterford and Kilkenny.

"They returned there this morning and carried out searches at one location in Kilkenny.

"No arrests were made; the boys suspecting of involvement in the incidents are known to gardai but they have not been located."

As reported by the Irish Mirror some relatives of at least one of the girls are in such an enraged state that they could take the law into their own hands against the Irish suspects.

One of the suspects is said to have held down one of the young girls during the incident while another boy allegedly sexually assaulted her.

It is also believed that there may have been more than a dozen teenagers who witnessed the incident.

The three girls, who are all from west Dublin, were visiting Courtown and enjoying the summer sun in the seaside resort village.

It is understood their relatives are regular visitors to the area. It is believed investigators have viewed CCTV footage of the five suspects in the company of the three girls on a pier.

They then walked from there to the Burrow area, which is a roadway and woodland on the shore of a sandy beach, where the alleged attack took place at 12.15am.

Gardai have continued their refusal to reveal any details about the incident they are investigating.

They appealed for help that could lead to arrests in the horror incident: "Gardaí are continuing to appeal for information in relation to the investigation into an incident of a serious assault that occurred on 28/07/19 at approximately 12:15am in the Burrow area of Courtown Harbour, Gorey, Co. Wexford.

"Investigating Gardaí would like to thank those people who have already come forward with information and are again appealing for information particularly any person with dash cam footage to please make contact with the incident room at Gorey Garda Station on 053-9430690 or the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111.

"Investigations are continuing. Due to the sensitive nature of the investigation and the ages of those involved, no further information is available at this time."
