Gardai race to scene as young man hospitalised after stabbing in Dublin city centre

A young man was rushed to hospital after a stabbing in Dublin city centre.

The incident happened at around 1.30pm on Friday on Sean McDermott Street Lower in the capital.

Officers raced to the scene and the man in his 20s was brought to the Mater Hospital for treatment, Dublin Live reports.

However, his injuries are currently believed to be non-life-threatening.

Gardai confirmed an investigation has been launched but nobody has been arrested in connection with the incident.

A garda spokesman said: "Gardaí attached to Store Street Garda Station and emergency services attended an assault that occurred on Sean McDermott Street Lower, Dublin 1 at approximately 1:30pm today, Friday, the 13 August 2021.

"One man aged in his 20s was conveyed to The Mater Misericordiae University Hospital for treatment of injuries sustained in the course of this incident. His injuries are considered to be non-life-threatening at this time.

"No arrests have yet been made in relation to this incident and investigations are ongoing."
