Gardai probing if Hutch gang member slashed man with knife in row over female associate

Gardai are probing if a Hutch gang member slashed a man with a knife in a row over a female associate, the Irish Mirror can reveal.

The victim, in his 30s, was stabbed in the face on Sunday night in the Sheriff Street area in Dublin’s north inner city.

Emergency services arrived on the scene and treated the man before he was rushed to the Mater Hospital.

The chief suspect is a Hutch associate who is well-known to gardai. They also believe the same man, in his 20s, was responsible for torching a car in the early hours of yesterday, at around 4am, at Empress Place in Dublin.

The two incidents are believed to be linked to the same dispute.

A source said: “There is a simmering row between two men which relates to a woman they both know.

“The suspect is well-known to gardai and is quite volatile by nature. So it seems to be an escalating row and since that incident there has been another one involving a car and the same man is being looked at for that too.”

Gardai examined the scene of the stabbing on Sunday night and sealed off the area where the car was damaged yesterday.

No arrests have been made but gardai are actively hunting for the thug and his whereabouts.

The hood previously was involved in robberies and is also known to officers for his involvement with drugs.

He was released from prison earlier this year but cannot be named for legal reasons. He has previously been targeted by the Kinahan cartel as part of the feud with the Hutch gang and he was warned by gardai that he had an active threat on his life before.
