The women, who are both in their 20s, suffered facial injuries with the men then fleeing on foot.
Gardai were called to the scene and have since launched an investigation into the assault.
There has been widespread condemnation over the alleged homophobic attack, with one of the women posting images of her "mutilated" face on social media.
In the pictures, Robyn can be seen with a black eye and a bruised face and she said the couple are both "physically in a lot of pain" and "exhausted" following the incident.
In an update on Wednesday, Robyn said on Instagram: "For everyone interested there will be an ongoing investigation into the two males who assaulted Kate and I on Monday.

"We are thankful that there was multiple witnesses to the assault.
"As you can see, my face is mutilated and it will be a long recovery. Again, thank you all for the support."
Meanwhile, a GoFundMe campaign "to support Robyn and Kate as they heal from this traumatic incident" has raised more than €13,000 to date.
