One man has been arrested following the burglary of a house in south Dublin.
Investigating officers from Ballyfermot rushed to the residence on Kennelsfort Road on Monday morning after the alarm was raised shortly after 10am.
One resident saw a man in a hi-vis acting suspiciously in the area and just minutes later, reports were issued to Gardai that expensive garden equipment, including valuable machinery, had been stolen from a house.
The arrested man in his 30s was nabbed just a short time later nearby and is still being quizzed by Gardai with the goods returned to the homeowner.
Local group Palmerstown Neighbourhood Watch thanked the quick-acting gardai and urged locals to always pick up the phone if they spot irregular activity.
They said: "Always call Gardai when you see something unusual, suspicious or if you just think something is not right.
"Let Gardai decide if it's serious enough for immediate response. This time it was and we got the right result.
"Well done to the resident who called Gardai and to the Gardai who responded urgently."
A Garda spokesman told Dublin Live: "Gardaí in Ballyfermot responded to a reported burglary in the Palmerstown area this morning, 29 March at 10am.
"A number of items were taken from a residence, but were recovered by Gardaí a short time later.
"A man (30s) was arrested in connection with this and is currently detained at Ballyfermot Garda station."
He added: "No further information is available and investigations are ongoing."
