Gardai nab unaccompanied learner driver going over double the speed limit

Gardai have arrested an unaccompanied learner driver after catching them going over double the speed limit.

Naas Roads Policing Unit were doing speed checks in Monasterevin when they caught the driver travelling 106kph in a 50kph zone.

When they pulled the driver over, gardai found they were an unaccompanied learner.

The driver was arrested and the car was seized by gardai.

Naas Roads Policing Unit also nabbed a disqualified driver with a "live" bench warrant.

The driver was stopped by gardai for travelling 149kph in a 120kph zone.

The driver was arrested and the car was seized.

Posting about the incident on social media, a spokesperson for An Garda Siochana said: "Disqualified motorist with a ‘live’ bench warrant stopped by Naas Roads Policing Unit for travelling at a speed of 149kph on the M9.

"Details confirmed via Mobility App.

"Driver arrested and car impounded."
