Gardai make huge discovery after seeing teens outside derelict North Dublin house

Three trucks needed to be called in after gardai made a mammoth find in a derelict house in North Dublin.

As Halloween approaches there's been a big crackdown on bonfire materials being hoarded - and it looks like one has been doused before it even started after gardai found a house full of tyres and pallets.

Community gardai in Finglas uncovered the haul in Hazlecroft area after observing some teens hanging around it.

After going inside they rang Dublin City Council who needed three trucks to remove the material.

Gardai said: "Community Gardai from Finglas on proactive patrols in the lead up to Halloween observed youths hanging around a derelict house in the Hazlecroft area of Finglas.

"On gaining entry to the house they discovered items which could be used for bonfire.

"Dublin City Council were contacted and arranged the removal of all the materials. Three trucks were required for the operation which was supervised by the Community Gardaí Finglas. Another great find."

The find came just as Southside firefighters were dealing with a huge blaze at another derelict building where materials were being stockpiled.

Impressive footage shows the harrowing aftermath of a fire that broke out on Clanbrassil Street at the South Circular Road junction.

Offices around the building had to be swiftly evacuated as four engines attended the scene.

DCC were forced to partially demolish the building afterwards to ensure safety.

The Dublin Fire Brigade tweeted photos as the busy street had to be closed during Tuesday's rush hour.

They said: "Earlier today we responded to a derelict building fire after reports that a bonfire stockpile had been set alight. 4 fire engines & 1 ambulance on scene resulting in the closure of Clanbrassil St during rush hour.

"You can report stockpiles for removal to your council."
