Gardai make appeal for witnesses after shots fired at house in Dundalk

Gardai have appealed for any witnesses to come forward after a shocking incident over the weekend saw shots fired at a house in Dundalk.

Officials responded at around 8.30pm on Saturday evening after a call was made alleging that a firearm had been discharged in Muirhevnamor.

Gardai say no one was injured during the incident, but damage was done to a residential property.

Anyone who was in the Villas 2 and Drive 1 area and Tom Bellew Avenue around the time of the incident has been asked to come forward by officers.

A Garda spokesperson said: "Gardai investigating an alleged discharge of a firearm Saturday, December 5, 2021, in Dundalk, Co Louth are appealing for witnesses.

"At approximately 8.30pm, gardai received reports alleging that a firearm had been discharged in Dundalk. No one was injured during the incident, however a residential property was damaged during the incident

"Investigating gardai are appealing for anyone who may have witnessed this incident to come forward, particularly anyone who was in the Villas 2 and Drive 1 area of Muirhevnamor and Tom Bellew Avenue. Any road users with camera footage are asked to make this footage available to investigating gardai.

"No arrests have been made at this stage, investigations are ongoing."
