Gardai make €900,000 cannabis drug bust in Limerick as eight arrested

Gardai seized a total of €900,000 worth of cannabis herbs across multiple premises in Limerick city yesterday and arrested eight people.

The operation also saw officers confiscate €45,000 in cash, which is believed to be connected to the sale, supply and distribution of illegal drugs in the Limerick area.

Eight people, one woman aged 40s and seven men aged from their 20s-70s, were arrested by gardai as part of this investigation.

They were all taken and are all currently detained under Section 2 of the Criminal Justice (Drug Trafficking) Act 1996 at various Limerick city Garda Stations.

Gardaí have said that this operation represents the ongoing investigations into drug distribution networks in the mid-west, and further investigations are still ongoing.
