Gardai launch probe as man left with serious injuries after brutal Waterford assault

A man has been left with serious injuries in hospital after a horrific assault in Waterford City on Wednesday evening.

Gardai have launched a probe into the incident, which took place on Hannover Street shortly before 9pm.

The male in question, in his 50s, is now in Waterford University Hospital.

Officials say his condition is serious but stable.

Gardaí are appealing for witnesses to come forward.

They are particularly appealing to anyone with video footage from the area at the time of the incident to make it available to them.
