Gardai launch probe after horror assault in St Stephen's Green which saw 15 boys attack group

Gardai are investigating after a serious incident saw a number of teenagers attacked by a large group in St Stephen's Green.

The assault took place in the city centre park in Dublin on Tuesday evening at around 6pm.

It is alleged that five boys were in St Stephen's Green on Tuesday evening when they were pounced on by a gang of 15 youths.

One of the boys was reportedly pushed into the lake during the terrifying attack.

The gang rained down punches on the five leaving them with black eyes and swollen jaws.

No arrests have been made at this moment in time.

A Garda spokesperson told DublinLive : "I refer to your enquiry and confirm gardai are investigating an assault that occurred in St. Stephens Green at approximately 6 pm on Tuesday evening August 24, 2021.

"A number of youths attacked a group of boys.

"Investigations are ongoing."
