Gardai launch probe after a woman found dead in Ballymun, Dublin with 'several stab wounds'

Gardai have launched an investigation after a woman was found dead ‘in unexplained circumstances’ in Ballymun this afternoon.

Officers were called to a house in Sandyhill Gardens at around 3.30pm today.

The woman - thought to be in her 50s - was found at the scene with several stab wounds on her body.

The scene is currently preserved as investigators await the arrival of the State Pathologist to conduct a preliminary examination.

A garda spokesperson said: “Gardaí are currently at the scene of an incident in a domestic residence in the Ballymun area where a female was discovered deceased in unexplained circumstances.

“The investigation into this incident is at an early stage and no further information is available at this time.”

No arrests have been made at this point.

Gardaí in Ballymun are now appealing for witnesses or anyone with information to come forward.
