Gardai launch manhunt after cash box robbed from security guard at Dublin shopping centre

Gardai are hunting for three men who grabbed a cash box from a security guard at a busy shopping centre in broad daylight.

The incident happened at Blanchardstown Shopping Centre at 2.55pm as a cash delivery was being made - no one was injured in the incident.

Armed gardai and an Air Support Unit helicopter rushed to the scene and searched for the robbers.

It is understood they left the scene in a grey 07 D Opel Zafira and gardai have appealed for help in tracking down the criminals.

A spokesman said: "Gardaí attended the scene of a Cash in Transit Robbery that occurred at a premises at Blanchardstown Shopping Centre at approximately 2.55pm today Friday 2nd August 2019.

"A cash box was taken during the incident. No injuries were reported. It's understood there were 3 male suspects and they left the scene in a grey 07 D Opel Zafira. This car was later found destroyed at Sheepmoor Crescent.

"Gardaí at Blanchardstown are appealing for anyone with information, particularly motorists who were in the area at the time and may have dash cam footage or anyone who may have mobile phone footage, to contact Blanchardstown Garda Station on 01 666 7000 or the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111."
