Gardai launch investigation as man dies after being found unconscious in Dublin city

A man has died after being found unconscious on a street in Dublin city.

An investigation is underway after the sudden death of the man, in his last 30s, on Sunday morning.

He was rushed to St James Hospital after he was found at Foster Place at around 7am.

Gardai were made aware of the man by people walking by. A post mortem is due to be carried out and will determine the coure of the investigation.

A spokesman said: "Gardaí are investigating the sudden death of a man (late 30s) who passed away in St. James Hospital at 8am this morning, Sunday 20th October, 2019.

"Gardaí were alerted to the incident by passing pedestrians who observed the man unconscious at Foster Place at approximately 7am. He was removed to St. James Hospital where he passed away.

"A post mortem will be conducted which will determine the course of the investigation."
