Gardai launch investigation after teenager 'shot in knee' in Drogheda, Co Louth

An investigation is underway after a teenager was 'shot in the knee' in Co Louth.

The young man, 19, presented himself at Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital in Drogheda.

Gardai say the teen arrived at the Accident and Emergency department with an injury to his knee.

Officers do not know the exact location of the apparent shooting.

A garda spokesman said: "Gardaí are investigating an apparent shooting incident at an unknown location believed to be in Drogheda, Co Louth, yesterday evening, Monday 25 March 2019.

"A 19 year old man presented himself to the Accident & Emergency department at Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital in Drogheda at 11.30pm last night.

"The man has an injury to his knee (non-serious injury). Investigations are continuing."
