Gardai launch investigation after shots fired twice in one week in Cork

Gardai have launched an investigation as a second shooting in Cork has been reported in the space of a week.

According to officers, shots were fired at a house in Ballincollig at around 11:40 am on Friday, and caused damage to the front window of a house.

No injuries were reported in relation to this incident and arrests have not been made yet, but investigations are ongoing.

Separately, Gardaí are searching for a gunman who fired through the door of a home in Cork City and then fled the scene in a vehicle immediately after.

This incident occurred on Saturday morning when emergency services and police attended the scene to find a young man injured.

The 25-year-old was taken to Cork University Hospital where he is being treated for non-life-threatening injuries.

Shortly after this, a car was found burnt out on the Old Mallow Road. The area where the car was found and the house have both been cordoned off for forensic examinations.

In a statement from Gardaí it was confirmed that "no arrests have been made", but "investigations ongoing."
