Gardai launch investigation after dead body shockingly found on beach in Wicklow

An investigation has been launched after a body was found on a beach in Co Wicklow.

The body of the man, in his 60s, was discovered along the South Beach in Arklow at around 12.30pm.

The man's body was removed from the scene to St Columcille's Hospital where a post-mortem was due to take place.

Gardai say the result of this will determine the course of the investigation.

A spokesman saidr: "Gardaí are investigating all the circumstances surrounding the discovery of a body of a man in his 60s at South Beach, Arklow, County Wicklow.

"The body has been removed to St Columcille's Hospital where a post mortem is due to take place at a later date and this will determine the course of the investigation."

It's understood that foul play is not suspected at this time and early investigations indicate this may be a personal tragedy.
