Gardai have warned car owners to be extra vigilant after a vehicle theft spree occurred over the weekend.
Between 3am and 5am on Sunday morning a number of cars were stolen in Meath, in the Berford, Oakleigh and Ashvale areas of Duleek.
Gardai have issued advice on how best to prevent vehicle theft.
They advise car and van owners not to leave valuable property in their vehicles overnight and to ensure cars are locked, alarmed and parked securely.
They also advise the public to store keys safely, away from letterboxes and windows.
Posting the warning on the Meath Crime Prevention Facebook page, a spokesperson for An Garda Siochana said: "We are appealing to all car and van owners to lock and secure their vehicles when parked overnight.
"The appeal comes after a number of thefts from vehicles occurred in the Berford, Oakleigh and Ashvale areas of Duleek between the hours of 3am and 5am on Sunday morning.
"If anybody noticed anything suspicious in any of these areas during these hours, please contact Ashbourne Garda Station on 01-8010600 or contact the Garda Confidential line on 1800 666 111.
"It is important to remember not to leave valuable items in your vehicle overnight. Wherever you park your car or van, take your property with you.
"Ensure your car is locked, alarmed and parked in a safe location. If your vehicle is left unlocked, it makes it very easy for the opportunist criminal to succeed.
"Store your keys safely, away from windows and letterboxes."
