Meanwhile, a local described to the Irish Mirror how she heard a girl "screaming and shouting" after the terrifying attack.

The resident explained: "I thought it was fireworks, then I heard a girl screaming.

"Then I heard what sounded like someone say 'get in the car, get in the car.'

"Then there was a fella screaming help. To be honest I thought it was a joke.

"It happens a lot around here, not the shootings, but fireworks and people messing.

"So I just forgot about it and came out later on. One of the neighbours went down at the time.

"I'd say there was about three or four shots, I can't remember exactly but I just thought it was fireworks.

"People have said in the area that he tried to run away and they got him again."
