Gardai issue update on murder probe after body discovered in North Dublin

The post-mortem of a man found dead in North Dublin has been completed, Gardai have said.

A man in his 40s who was arrested yesterday is still being detained on suspicion of murder at Mountjoy Garda Station this evening.

The man's body was found at a house on Auburn Street in Phibsboro.

He appeared to have suffered a number of different injuries and may have been the victim of an assault.

His body was removed to the Dublin City Mortuary where a post-mortem examination was carried out earlier today by the Office of the State Pathologist.

"A preliminary report has since been furnished to investigating Gardaí details of which are not being released for operational reasons," Gardai said.

"The Garda Technical Bureau are continuing to examine the scene which remains sealed off.

"Investigating Gardaí are continuing to appeal to anyone with information to contact them at Mountjoy Garda Station 01-6668600, the Garda Confidential line 1800 666 111 or any Garda Station.

"The investigation is ongoing."
