A third man arrested in connection with a horror assault in Fairview that left a man unconscious on the ground has been released without charge.

Gardai are still appealing for anyone with any information to come forward as their investigation continues.

Gardai rushed to the north Dublin area on Monday night after a horrific assault on a man in his 60s.

The alarm was raised after the man was found unconscious at around 11pm on Monday night after a gang attack in Fairview Strand.

He was rushed to the Mater Hospital by emergency vehicles where he is still being treated for serious injuries.

Footage obtained by Dublin Live shows emergency services and Gardai at the scene which was taped off.

Aodhán Ó Ríordáin, Dublin Bay North TD called the incident “another distressing incident of anti-social behaviour" before wishing the victim a speedy recovery.

Gardai said: "The man, aged in his 20s, who was arrested in relation to an assault incident which occurred at Fairview Strand, Dublin 3, on 7th June 2021, has been released without charge.

"A file will now be prepared for the Director of Public Prosecutions.

"This refers to the third arrest as part of this investigation.

"Gardaí are continuing to appeal for anyone with information in relation to this incident, to contact them at Raheny Garda Station on 01 666 4300 or the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111."
