Gardai issue fresh appeal over horror stabbing of teen in Co Cork

Gardai have issued a fresh appeal for information over a horrific stabbing of a teen in Co Cork.

The teenage boy has now been released from hospital after the incident last night.

The victim sustained several stab wounds and was rushed to hospital after the assault in the Waterpark area of Carrigaline.

He was taken by ambulance to Cork University Hospital shortly after the stabbing which happened at around 10.30pm.

Another teenage boy has since been arrested in connection with the investigation and is being detained by gardai in Cork city.

A garda spokeswoman said: "Gardaí investigating the assault that occurred last night, Saturday 6th June, 2020 at approximately 10.30p.m. at Waterpark, Carrigaline, Co. Cork are renewing their appeal for witnesses.

"The injured party has been released from hospital and investigating Gardaí are appealing for any persons who were in the area of Waterpark and can assist with the investigation to contact them, and for any road users who may have camera footage (dash-cam) of Waterpark on Saturday night from 10p.m. to 10.30p.m. to contact them at Togher Garda Station 021 494 7120, the Garda Confidential Line 1800 666 111, or any Garda Station.

"The arrested teenager remains in Garda custody and investigations are ongoing."
