Gardai issue appeal after body found of man missing since 2011

Gardai have issued an appeal after finding the body of a man missing since 2011.

Stephen Corrigan's remains were found in Rathmines on April 9.

Stephen, who was living in the Cork Street area of Dublin 8, had been missing since November 22, 2011.

Born on June 8, 1963, he was 48-years-old when he went missing.

Gardai launched several public appeals for information on his disappearance through Crimecall on May 2012, January 2013 and May 2014.

However human remains were discovered in south Dublin two months ago, and after officers compared the DNA of the remains with a sample provided by Stephen's mother, they found a match.

Sadly, Stephen's mother and his only other known relative have since passed away.

Gardai have now issued an appeal to track down any surviving members of Stephen's family.

A spokesman said: "An Garda Síochána continue to try and identify surviving members of Stephen’s family and are appealing to any living relative of Stephen Corrigan or any member of the public who knew Stephen to contact Gardaí at Rathmines Garda Station on 01 666 6700, the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111 or any Garda Station."
