Gardai investigating 'serious alleged group attack incident' in Dublin City appeal for witnesses

An appeal for witnesses has been issued by Gardai who are currently investigating an 'incident of serious nature' in Dublin City.

A man in his 20s was left receiving treatment in hospital for serious head injuries after he was allegedly assaulted by a group of men on O'Connell Street.

The victim was taken to Mater Hospital following the incident which took place at 1am on November 3. 

The Detective Unit at Store Street Garda Station are currently conducting enquiries in relation to the "incident of serious nature".

In a statement, a spokesman said: "The investigation team are particularly interested in speaking with any taxi drivers who were near the Taxi Rank at Cathal Brugha Street and O'Connell Street on November 3 between 1am and 1:30am who may have witnessed the incident."

He added: "They are also anxious to identify any taxi vehicles equipped with dash cameras. Any person who may be able to assist with the investigation are requested to contact the incident room on 01 666 8000."
