Gardai investigating hit-and-run after two teenagers struck by car while walking in Navan, Co Meath

Gardai have launched an investigation after two teenage pedestrians were struck by a vehicle which failed to remain at the scene.

The incident happened in Athlumney, Navan, Co Meath on Sunday afternoon at around 5pm.

It is understood the two teenage boys were walking on a grassy verge in a residential area when they were hit by the vehicle.

The motorist did not wait at the scene and instead drove away.

One of the boys was taken to Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital in Drogheda to be treated for his injuries.

These injuries are not believed to be life-threatening.

Gardai investigating the hit-and-run incident are appealing for anyone with information to come forward.

A garda spokesperson said: "Gardaí at Navan are investigating a hit and run traffic collision that occurred in Athlumney, Navan, Co. Meath on Sunday, 26th September 2021 at approximately 5pm.

"It is understood two male teenage youths were struck by a vehicle while walking on a grassy verge in a residential area. The vehicle failed to remain at the scene.

"One male was taken to Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital, Drogheda for treatment of his injuries, which are believed to be non-life threatening.

"Gardaí are appealing to anyone who may have information in relation to this incident to contact them in Navan Garda Station on 046 907 9930.

"Investigations are ongoing."
