Garda Commissioner Drew Harris confirmed an investigation was ongoing into the circumstances of the eviction, according to RTE.

Mr Harris told the Policing Authority that Gardaí had no prior knowledge of the events unfolding until 7.15am on Wednesday morning and that a court order was in place in relation to the eviction, which was being conducted by an agent associated with the property.

He added that both parties had made allegations and counter allegations and these were being investigated.
