Gardai investigating alleged sexual assault on juvenile girl in Dublin park

Gardai are investigating an alleged sexual assault on a juvenile girl in a park on Halloween night.

The incident is alleged to have happened in a parkland in Donaghmede, North Dublin, on Sunday and was then reported to cops on Monday.

Officers sealed off a park of the green area on Tuesday and combed it for evidence as a probe got under way.

Gardai will examine any CCTV in the area but also will try to talk to locals to see if there was any suspicious activity on Sunday or if anyone witnessed the alleged incident.

A source said: “A very serious allegation has been made and gardai have allocated resources to ensure it is investigated fully.”

A Garda spokesman confirmed: “Gardai are investigating reports of an alleged serious incident that occurred in Coolock on October 31.

“No arrests have been made, investigations are ongoing.”

Local Cllr Tom Brabazon said parents are “very concerned” for the safety of their children since the alleged attack.

He told the Irish Mirror: “I am looking for assurances that gardai will be present visibly, particularly until someone is caught.

“I would also make an appeal to anyone with
information to come forward to the gardai in Coolock who are investigating the incident.”
